Pasta with Green Flag Basil Pesto

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz (340g) pasta (spaghetti, penne, or your favorite)

  • 1 Oz fresh Green Flag basil leaves

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1/3 cup pine nuts

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Lemon juice (optional, to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Cook Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. Make Pesto: In a food processor, combine the Green Flag basil leaves, Parmesan cheese, pine nuts, and minced garlic. Pulse until the ingredients are finely chopped.

  3. Add Olive Oil: With the food processor running, slowly pour in the olive oil until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add a squeeze of lemon juice if desired.

  4. Combine: Toss the cooked pasta with the pesto sauce until evenly coated.

  5. Serve: Serve immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and a few fresh basil leaves if desired.
